Summary:
Charles J. Brown, MD was born in Yadkinville, North Carolina. Dr. Brown was fascinated with music from an early age and he decided to pursue an education in line with his passion for the arts. This led him to Oberlin College where he graduated with a BA in Organ. He then earned a MA in Music from Yale University. Dr. Brown traveled to Iceland, where he taught music in schools for two years. He then choose to pursue a career in medicine and returned to Yale University to complete his Pre-Medical requirements. Dr. Brown earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completed his internship in internal medicine at McGill University, and served his residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Brown also completed a Laser Dermatology Fellowship at the Marshfield Clinic and is Board Certified by the American Academy of Dermatology.
In 1992, Dr. Charles J. Brown began work at Charlotte Dermatology. He worked there until 1997, when he joined forces with Dr. John A. Thompson, Jr. to form the Dermatologic Laser Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Dermatologic Laser Center of Charlotte specializes in General Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, and Cosmetic Dermatology.
Dr. Brown loves to travel and has visited several interesting and exotic locals such as Iceland, Turkey, India, and France. He speaks the following five languages fluently: French, German, Spanish, Icelandic, and Turkish.
During one of his many travels, Dr. Brown met a young man in a local market in Turkey with a rather large Portwine Stain on his face. The two men began to talk and eventually became close friends. Dr. Brown wanted to help the young man and eventually treated him at the Dermatologic Laser Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, drastically improving the young man's appearance. Dr. Brown is very interested in the treatment of acne and reducing the effects of scarring, the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers, laser and cosmetic dermatology, the application of Botox or Dysport, and anti-aging treatments such as dermal fillers.
